Velvet Winter Outfit

Although -3 degrees is probably asking for multiple layered jumpers and scarves, it is not stopping me from sharing my favourite winter outfit so far this year. (which is also kind of warm and weather appropriate...)

First of all let's start with this gorgeous velvet dress from Zara, one of my favourite stores. I bought this dress for £20 and I actually got more wear out of it than I thought I would! I love this kind of vintage pink colour, especially in combination with the velvet material. I know velvet is extremely on trend right now and maybe even almost over, but I must say that there is so much difference in the velvet clothing I have seen, I did not like the dresses in Primark even though they looked similar to this one. I just prefer the look of this velvet. Zara definitely always gets it right when it comes to trends, it was one of the first high-street stores I saw it in.

Moving onto the bag, I just got this on the day I took these pictures actually which was last weekend. My family and I drove all the way up to the Lake District where I stumbled upon a cute little shop in Bowness on Windermere called The Hen House. The very first thing I saw when walking into the shop was this beautiful grey bag! I was planning on buying a grey Ted Baker bag which I have had my eye on for awhile. However, I bought this one instead in the sale for £18,50 and I am so pleased with it! I normally don't have many accessories or bags to show with an outfit post as it is expensive to keep buying different ones. (and let's face it I also only have a part-time job no way can I afford that though I wish I could) I think this bag absolutely makes this outfit complete and do visit The Hen House when you are in Lake District because it is the cutest place!

My embroidered boots are from New Look and they are soooo pretty! I am in love with all the flowers and there is even the same colour pink as my dress in the embroidery. The block heel is not high at all which makes them more comfortable to walk in. I do have to say that I was scared they would not fit me at first because they are described as 'wide fit' on New Look's website however they fit perfectly!

My choker is from Topshop and is a must have, so many people have asked me where I got it from as it looks so unique. The design is very well made and it is maybe a little bit more expensive than other chokers but definitely worth it!

Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017

Sooo first of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I can't believe how quick this year has gone, 2016 has flown by and I was definitely not prepared for a whole new year already. I do say that every year so I guess it must be me.

This post kind of replaces the standard blogger's ''new year resolutions'' post because I am not really a fan of new year's resolutions and I'll explain why; to me, resolutions are goals that people want to achieve and I just don't see the point of waiting 'till a whole new year starts to try and achieve those goals. If you decide in say, October, that you want to go to the gym, quit smoking, eat healthier and spend more time with family, THEN START IN OCTOBER. Thank you.

Therefore, I don't have a list of resolutions to share with you but I just wanted to write about 2016 and what I am looking forward to in 2017.

This past year has been good but stressful for me, I worked really hard on everything I did and especially on myself and I think that worked out really well. There were just a lot of things that I wanted to change in my life and about the way I thought and I think I am going into 2017 as the best version of myself. The past year I have been so focused on my school for the first time ever really, I never cared so much as I did in 2016. Honestly, moving countries has had such a positive impact when I look at my grades but I will write all about that in another post that I have in mind.
I looked at all of my options for what to do after high school and I decided that I want to study fashion management at university in the UK. The amount of people that expected me to go running back to the Netherlands is insane and maybe I even thought the same when I first moved here, but now I see how many more opportunities there are for me here in terms of studying.
That is also what I am looking forward to in 2017, going to university! Although it sounds so scary it is really exciting at the same time. It is not 100% sure yet but fingers crossed!
Leaving high school and living at home behind after all these years will be a crazy experience but I am so ready for it! All the universities I have applied to have until May to decide whether they want to offer me a place or not so you will hopefully hear everything from me by then! (if no one wants to offer me a place then you'll be stuck with a blogpost every single day for the next year)

Something else that I am looking forward to in 2017 is SUMMER! I have already made so many amazing plans for this summer and I cannot wait to write all about it! Travelling is something I have always been so passionate about and especially now I am getting a bit older (I am turning 18 this month omg omg) and will be able to travel more on my own is so exciting! The only thing that is sometimes a bit demotivating is that everything costs so much money. I am trying to save up for a good camera but then I have my holidays to pay for as well aaaargggh. Since I am still in school I can only do 12 hours of work outside of that so you will have to enjoy my phone camera for now.

And everything else that will happen this year is still a surprise for me too! There will be so many new movies coming out (Pitch perfect 3 yaaay if only I could sing), already new music from Ed Sheeran which promises that this year will be a good year, and the only other thing that i am already excited about for 2017 is Christmas! I know so many people don't want to hear that right now but if you disagree then I don't think we can be friends.
Also, so many new beauty launches coming up this year! i do want to focus my blog more on the fashion side and write more outfit posts but it's so hard to do this time of year cause it is freezing outside, and not even a little bit of snow!

What are you looking forward to in 2017? I'd love to hear your plans!
