How To Get Healthy Glowing Skin

Skincare is something I have been passionate about for quite some time now, it is the one thing I never regret spending my money on since I see it as an investment in myself (and my future self!) However, I used to focus specifically on acne skincare products. It became my obsession to buy ANYTHING that would help me with my spots and redness. My skin has become better over the years when it comes to acne, it is still far from perfect and I am left with redness and scarring but I am a lot more confident about it.

As I said, I used to focus on acne-related products so much that I never focused on the basic needs of my skin. I ALWAYS took my make up off even when I was younger and unaware of the importance. It was something my mum taught me well. The standard routine cleansing products I used to use were not right for my skin and I never used to double cleanse. Over the years I read a lot more about skincare and found it so interesting to learn about different products and techniques. Most of my knowledge I got from skin experts (more on this later in the post eeeek) when I visited them and asked a bunch of questions, as well as from the amazing Caroline Hirons over on her blog I have been reading her blog for over a year now and when I first came across it I knew I missed out on so much!

Now onto how to get that healthy, glowing skin that you really came here for! My skincare routine goes a little beyond the products you see in the photos but these are the ones that have helped me the most to get my skin healthy and glowing again. You’re probably tired of hearing that drinking lots and lots of water every single day will benefit your skin but this is really the first step and I cannot emphasise this enough. You can spend a lot of money on skincare products but they won’t have as much benefit if you don’t take care of the basics so drink water, don’t smoke and clean your make up brushes!!!

A few months ago I was lucky enough to be invited to a beauty event where I met the amazing Emma Hardie herself. This was the same day after I just did an all-nighter to submit a business report and I hadn’t slept properly in 3 DAYS. Dragging myself out of bed I went to the event anyway and I am so glad I did because otherwise I would never have met her. Embarrassed by the massive bags under my eyes I asked Emma for some advice; she had one look at my skin and said I was in desperate need of a facial! I was telling her that I had always wanted to try her products but that they were outside my budget. This was the perfect opportunity to try them especially as she could show me how.

I tried a sample of the Moringa Cleansing Balm for the rest of the week as this was the one she used for my facial and I fell in love with it! I bought the full sized one right after that week and it was worth every penny. It is the perfect cleansing balm and with the massaging techniques found on the Emma Hardie website you really notice a difference! Take your time with this product and this step in your skincare routine. I use micellar water to take off all my make up in the first step, then I use this balm for a second cleanse. I saw and mostly felt a big difference in my skin, it felt thoroughly clean and looked brighter than before.

The body shop has alway been my number 1 place to go for affordable skincare products, and it still is. I use their seaweed moisturiser daily because it is so good for combination skin. The tea tree range however is what made my skin look a lot better, it helped restore its imperfections and made it feel healthier. I always use d the oil and the scrub which are helpful products but it was not until recently that I tried the tea tee night mask. The amount of product in this little pot is actually never-ending and it is only 12 pound. If you are wondering what mask to use then look no further because you truly won’t regret buying this. Like the other products in the range, it helps with imperfections such as redness. But what I love about this product is that you can leave it on over night so it has hours to restore your skin and you wake up to glowing looking skin in the morning! Rather than the oils and scrub this mask makes your skin feel refreshed. This is a huge plus for me in the morning! Whenever I am having a bad skin day, I always see improvement the next day if I put this on before I go to sleep. (I sound like a salesman here, but it is just THAT good!)

The Pixi glow tonic has been around for awhile now but I only started using it recently when I realised that something was missing from my skincare routine. This tonic really helps your skin look more healthy and glowing, they even state that on their own website. I use this after I washed of the balm to remove all dead skin cells and any product left. My skin feels smoother since using the Pixi glow tonic and my moisturiser works better after using this, it has more effect on my skin. I highly recommend adding this to your collection if you want a healthy radiant glow!

And last but not least…,

You might think having a silk pillowcase is a bit too ”extravaganza” and you are happy with the one you currently have. I thought the same until I read more into it; a Mulberry silk pillowcase has many benefits not only for your skin but your hair too. Less breakage for example, less split ends and overall shinier hair. In addition, it is so much better for your skin to sleep on a silk pillowcase; silk contains a natural protein and 18 essential amino acids. These amino acids can help the effects of ageing and calm the nervous system. Unlike cotton, silk doesn’t absorb moisture which makes the use of night creams and masks a lot more effective. The one I have is from Cliffton, they make the cases in England so they can even adjust the sizes. They ship internationally too but you can buy 100% silk pillowcases easily online.

I am always on the hunt for new and better skincare products but all of the above will for sure remain in my collection! I used to think that glowing skin was only achievable in the summer holidays but these products completely changed my opinion.

What is your one skincare product that you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments!!
